Bob reports a good day with north winds.

Broad-winged Hawk 35
Red-tailed Hawk 1
Red-shouldered Hawk 1
Cooper’s Hawk 1
Mississippi Kite 22
Swallow-tailed Kite 9

Totals for the month:
Osprey 5
Northern Harrier 1
Cooper’s Hawk 12
Red-shouldered Hawk 5
Broad-winged Hawk 310
Red-tailed Hawk 6
Swainson’s Hawk 18
White-tailed Hawk 1
Merlin 1
Peregrine Falcon 5
Mississippi Kite 85
Swallow-tailed Kite 85
White-tailed Kite 3
Total 537

Very poor Mississippi Kite numbers and very good Swallow-tailed Kite numbers have resulted in the same number of each of those species passing the point in August. I’m pretty sure that’s never happened before! North winds the next few days because of the tropical storm heading to Florida. Should make for some good raptor migration days as the birds ride those winds south. Get out and see for yourself!
