The GCBO nursery is currently undergoing a makeover, to convert it into a plant propagation and self-guided retail space, emphasizing Texas native plants useful for home landscaping and backyard habitat.
During the conversion process, we will be working to increase the inventory of useful native and naturalized plants of the area. GCBO visitors are encouraged to look in, to see if they can find any unusual species that they cannot live without! In this way, we will have a “pilot program” to develop and refine the process for a retail nursery at GCBO.
Members and friends of GCBO are also encouraged to help, by bringing in any seed or plants which may be worthy of propagation (also plastic pots, for re-use), to help build a wide and unique inventory. Also, workdays are scheduled on Saturday mornings from 9:00 to noon beginning November 18th and continuing through March, when volunteers and staff can work as a team to perform needed chores and maintenance of the area. Note there will be no workday the weekends of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
