Description

A morning at the Smith Point Hawk Watch with Martin Hagne

Enjoy the migration of raptors at the GCBO hawk watch site in Smith Point!  Learn about what raptors migrate through, how and why, while watching from the top tier of the hawk watch tower along with Martin Hagne, Executive Director of GCBO, as well as spending time with GCBO’s hawk watch station master Bob Bias.

Smith Point hawk watch is located on a peninsula jutting out into east Galveston Bay, making it a perfect point to count the hawks, falcons, vultures, and kites as they come down south and put the breaks on due to the bay.  There is an average of 55,000 raptors migrating through the station each year. And 21 species of raptors have been detected.

Good for up to 4 people, and will include coffee, juice, and kolaches on the tower! Meet at Smith Point, TX at 9:00am and stay as long as you wish.

Must be used in 2023 between Aug 15 and Nov 30.

Donated by GCBO and Martin Hagne
